Ruddington Open Gardens 2024

June 1 - June 2

£5.00
Garden with pond and people visiting

Ruddington Open Gardens 2024 is nearly here when green-fingered residents unlatch their garden gates to visitors.

The biannual event, on Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2 between 2 and 6pm, raises money for charity.

Flower and veg enthusiasts can take a look around 20 locations. Programmes, including a village map, are £5 from participating gardens.

Each adult buys one at the first plot they visit and then use it as a handy guide for the rest of the afternoon. Children get in free.

Many of the gardens belong to Ruddington Gardeners’ Association members. The event draws the village community together every two years.

This year, 16 private gardens around the village will open, some with plants for sale. Visitors can also take a look at gardens at the Cottage Hotel and the Debbie Bryan Gallery with a chance to see Hareham Gardens and Paradise Gardens allotments.

At Ruddington Methodist Church, Lyrical Songbirds will sing on Saturday at 2.30pm and Ruddington Community Choir will perform on Sunday at 3.30pm and 4.30pm. The Gathering Threads textile group will have a display of their work and refreshments will be available.

There’s flower arranging, refreshments and children’s activities at St Peter’s Church.

At 200 Loughborough Road there will also be refreshments. Here, Nottingham Country Markets also have a preserves stall, fungi can be bought from Mater Mushrooms and Steve Crawford will have his wood turned products for sale.

The Ruddington Arts and Craft Society will give art demonstrations at 172 Loughborough Road, along with ice cream, cakes and a tombola. Cathy’s Chocolates and Cakes are for sale at 52 Kirk Lane.

Refreshments are being served throughout the village, including at sponsor Framework Knitters Museum. The museum is open on both days. On Saturday the Free Second Turning Textile Group will exhibit and on Sunday it’s the turn of Free Nature Crafts.

Each garden will be clearly marked by boards kindly provided by sponsor Thomas James estate agents.

Other sponsors are Ridge Energy, Ruddington Village Centre Partnership, Ruddington Co-op and Ruddington Yarn Ninjas. Look out for their knitted flowers around the village.

The organisers very much hope that it will be as successful as the previous event in 2022, when £2,000 was donated to each of two charities, Save the Children and Action for Children.

Please do support this charity event if you are free on the weekend of 1st and 2nd June.
