Ruddington Village Show 2024 Report
The annual village show, organised by Ruddington Gardeners’ Association, attracted a large number of visitors who were encouraged to venture out by the surprisingly beautiful sunshine on the day.
The difficult weather conditions for growing vegetables and flowers (rain and drought) did not help gardeners this year, but there was still a colourful display in St Peter’s Rooms on September 21.
The standard of the exhibits rivalled that of items in other local shows. Visitors admired the vegetables, fruit, pot plants and flowers on display, alongside cakes, preserves, children’s vegetable creations and photographs.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to making the show a success once again.
The stalls added interest with their own focal points, including those by our kind sponsor Ben Cree (Lesley Cree Opticians), David Baxter (woodcraft), Martin and Jill Basson (wildlife photography), Olivia Beaven (Mater mushrooms) and Nottingham Country Market (home produce).
Ruddington and District U3A offered a hands-on painting table with an impressive display by its art group.
Ruddington WI kindly provided excellent refreshments all day, while the Ruddington Yarn Ninjas helped to advertise the show with their amazing creations, such as the post box topper and display of knitted vegetables.
Members of our association provided raffle prizes and items to sell on the plant and produce stall.
Thanks to everyone for supporting this traditional village event.
The next Ruddington Village Show is scheduled for Saturday September 20 2025, so please keep this date free in your diary.
Happy gardening!
