On the evening of 11th August, RGA had an evening Garden Walkabout to 3 gardens, starting at 3 Kirk Lane (the “Secret Garden” of David Russell’s talk!), 19 Flawforth Avenue (the garden of Liz Wills, a real plants woman) and finishing with refreshments at 200 Loughborough Road. A perfect evening enabled members to socialise al fresco until dusk. See Gallery…

On 25th July 2015, the RGA Summer BBQ was held. This year it was held with with Tollerton Gardening Club, and very generously hosted by Keith and Doris Soden-Barton. Summer weather enabled us to enjoy the garden, while the outdoor games revealed the competitive nature of many of our member. See Gallery…

Renishaw Hall Gardens in Derbyshire was the venue for a visit by RGA members and friends on 4th July. Perfect weather enabled us to see the formal gardens, the lakes and woodland areas, to purchase plants and to take refreshments in the stable yard. Excellent transport and a friendly driver from Sharpes Coaches at Cropwell Bishop resulted in a most enjoyable day. See Gallery…

Members braved a cold day to see the snowdrops at Easton Walled Gardens near Grantham (14th February). See Gallery… 

RGA combined with Tollerton Garden Club for a visit on 20th September to the Hempsall Heritage Orchard at Cart Gaps, East Markham. John and Helen Hempsall maintain a private collection of apple trees, with more than 300 “modern” and “ancient” varieties. An excellent afternoon with some members visiting Tuxford Windmill on the way home. Each year, John and Helen display their collection of apples in Southwell Minster at the Bramley Apple Day during October, which is worth seeing. See Gallery…

Keith and Doris Soden-Barton hosted our Summer Social on 2nd August. Although wet at the start, the rain cleared quickly and the beautiful garden provided the ideal venue for our BBQ and games. See Gallery…

On 12th July members visited the RHS garden at Wisley, near Guildford. Our affiliation to the RHS (No. 22661406) gave us free entry to the garden, enabling us to keep the overall cost to £20 per member. See Gallery…

An evening visit on 21st May to Rassells Nursery at Little Bytham, Lincolnshire, allowed 15 members to purchase excellent plants at competitive prices. Claire Rassell and her assistant made us very welcome and gave us a conducted tour of the propagation areas, followed by refreshments. See Gallery…
